Dear Seonaid…

Unplanned post, but I really wanted to share this brilliant piece that came out on the Team GB website yesterday - a letter from my sister, Seonaid McIntosh, to her seventeen-year-old self.

When I think about the power of sport, of truly inspiring stories that I’ve seen, Seonaid’s story is usually the first that comes to my mind. Like any sibling relationship, ours is complex and has not been without its challenges over the years. Especially not when you add our competitive natures into the mix. But even when she’s driving me up the wall, I’ve always been in awe of how Seonaid has taken a major diagnosis like arthritis into her stride and refused to ever let it stop her. It’s been difficult to watch at times, to see someone you love suffering and not being able to help them… but it’s also been truly inspiring.

And, as if that wasn’t enough, now she’s sharing her story in the hope that it might help someone else out there, struggling like she was at seventeen. I don’t know about you, but think that’s pretty awesome…
